Playing for Keeps!
When It Comes to Children’s Health Care,
We’re Playing for Keeps Every Day
… but, mid-Michigan has a critical shortage of specialized
pediatricians. Parents whose children need surgery or treatment
for chronic conditions, such as asthma or diabetes, must often
drive to Detroit, Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids for care.
A Child’s Illness Can Become a Crisis for the Whole Family
Time consuming, expensive trips for health care disrupt school,
jobs, family life and support systems. Poorly coordinated and
fragmented health care often results. This is happening right now
to hundreds of families in our community.
Give Our Children the Home Court Advantage
The MSU Children’s Health Initiative is committed to providing
the best possible care for our children right here in mid-Michigan.
We are teaming up with community and university players
involved in children’s health to create a winning strategy for the
good of our children and the overall health of our region.
The Game Plan
- Build a collaborative, integrated and holistic children’s health
care center and delivery system, so that no child will have to
leave Mid-Michigan to get the care they need.
- Create an endowment that will recruit and retain needed
specialized pediatricians.
